The faithful in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan are celebrating the birthday of the Buddha today. This year's celebration marks the Buddha's 2,633rd birthday. In Hong Kong, Buddha's birthday is a public holiday and statues of the Buddha are often bathed in honor of his birthday.
Revelers in China and Taiwan also mark the day by bathing statues of the baby Buddha. Buddha's birthday is also celebrated in other parts of the world though the celebration date varies by country.
