China has successfully landed a jet on the deck of an aircraft carrier, according to CNN.
The J-15, similar to the American F-18, anded on the deck of the Liaoning, an aircraft carrier built from the shell of the Soviet carrier Varyag, according to an annual assessment of China's military by the US. While it is estimated it will be several years before the aircraft carrier is fully operational, the event is significant, demonstrating China's strengthening military capabilities.
