One of the more vocal newspaper in China, Southern Weekly is protesting against censorship of a recent editorial, according to the Associated Press.
The dispute over an editorial began after an editorial that called for political reform was edited instead to praise the Communist Party. The newspaper's editors have demanded an answer and are calling for the censor's dismissal. Celebrities, academics, and dissidents have rallied behind the newspaper. Now that Xi Jinping has been tapped to lead China, it will be interesting to see how the government responds as the Chinese government is known to heavily censor media in China.
