There are lots of cultural spots in Shandong province, China, among which rank high the famous mountain Mount Tai by the city of TaiAn, Penglai Pavilion by the coastal city Penglai and the cradle of the Confucius in Qufu.

Mount Tai lies at the center of Shandong, just embracing the city of TaiAn from the north, which is counted first among the five famous cultural mountains in China. In the mean time it is regarded as the most meaningful one. For it loads much more Chinese culture than the others. Here you can read the history of the ancient China recorded in as early as the Xia and Shang Dynasties when about 72 kings went to Mount Tai to meet the dukes from different states, throne a heritor or make some particular carvings on the rock there. It became a place to warship the god for the kings or emperors in different dynasties and eras. They built temples and made status in them. The ancient culture attracted lots of people to tour among whom there were many poets and artists. They visited Mount Tai and expressed their emotions at the peak of their enjoyment. The famous lines written by the famous poet Du Pu of Tang Dynasty is still on everybody's lips. That's, "When you get on the top of the mountain, you'll look down on others."

Mount Tai is also the sanctums of both Buddhism and Taoism in China; so you can't miss visiting temples and places of interest. But that is only a corner of the iceberg of its Chinese cultural deposit.

Mount Tai is famous for its four marvelous spectacles. They are the sights of the Rising Sun, the Sunset Glow, the overlook of the streamer-like Yellow River and the Sea of Clouds. It has been listed in the Checklist of the World's Heritage and been praised by tourists form home and abroad.
