What Is the World’s Fair?
Now called the World Expo, expos are a chance for states, countries, corporations and people to showcase their countries, innovations and ideas. Each expo has a common theme. Expo 2010 Shanghai’s theme is ‘Better City, Better Life.’
Who Is in Charge of the World’s Fair?
The Bureau International des Expositions oversees the host country selection and logistics. The 1928 Paris Convention established BIE, which is responsible for all expos held by governments except fine art expos, commercial expos and expos that are three weeks or less. BIE coordinates two types of expos: World Expos like Expo 2010 Shanghai and International/Specialized Expos like horitculture festivals.
How Long Is the World’s Fair?
World Expos are held every five years. They are up to six months long.
Where Is the Next World’s Fair?
The next World Expo is Expo 2015 Milan. It will be in Milan, Italy May 1-October 31, 2015.
