1950 Internal Section January 31 Officials of Bainqen Lambu Lija, in Qinghai Province cable Chairman Mao and Commander-in-Chief Zhu De stating that they oppose collusion of Tibet local government with foreign forces to betray Tibet and pledging to lead all patriotic Tibetans to support PLA's liberation of Tibet. March 18 CPC Central Committee issues Directive on Resolute Suppression of Counter-Revolutionaries. May 1 CPC Central Committee issues Directive on Launching Rectification Movement Within Party and Army to combat complacency, bureaucracy and commandism within Communist Party and to improve Party's relations with masses. June 6-9 Beijing, Third Plenary Session of Party's Seventh Central Committee: Mao Zedong presents written report. Fight for Fundamental Turn for the Better in Nation's Financial and Economic Situation, eight urgent tasks decided on, including agrarian reform, stabilization of commodity prices, industrial and commercial readjustment, suppression of counterrevolutionaries and Party rectification. Party states aim to strive for fundamental improvement in nation's finances and economy within three years so as to create conditions for planned economic reconstruction. June 30 Central People's Government promulgates Agrarian Reform Law of the People's Republic of China. October 14 Government Administration Council promulgates Decision on Harnessing Huaihe River. Before this, flood in areas around Huaihe River inundated 2.7 million hectares of farmland and left 13 million people กก Foreign Relations January 18 Diplomatic relations established with Vietnam. April 1 Diplomatic relations established with India April 13 Diplomatic relations established with Indonesia. (Relations are suspended in October 1967.) May 9 Diplomatic relations established with Sweden. May 11 Diplomatic relations established with Denmark. June 8 Diplomatic relations established with Burma. June 25 Korean War breaks out. On June 27 US President Harry Truman issues statement saying: ``I have ordered the US Air Force and Navy to provide cover and support for the Korean government (the Syngman Rhee clique) troops'' and ``I have ordered the Seventh Fleet to prevent any attacks against Taiwan.'' On June 28 Zhou Enlai, on behalf of Government of the People's Republic of China, issues statement, pointing out: "Truman's June 27 statement and the actions of the US Navy constitute an armed aggression against Chinese territory and an outright of the United Nations Charter." September 14 Diplomatic relations established with Switzerland. October 25 Flames of Korean War spread to China's border. Central Committee of CPC decides that China will aid Korea in its flight against US aggression to defend our motherland. The Chinese People's Volunteers, under the command of Peng Dehuai, cross border into Korea, prepared for active combat. October 28 Diplomatic relations established with Finland. November 28 China's special representative to United Nations Security Council Wu Xiuquan, speaking at a session of the Council, condemns US armed invasion of China's Taiwan Province.
